Christmas Party!

What do YOU want for Christmas?

For a little break, we reviewed our 5 Senses in our Science Journals: 

I told a story about a little boy, and they had to draw a picture of the sense that he was using during the story. They did a GREAT job listening to the story and applying it to the 5 senses!

 More Santa's Workshop time! Last minute gift making and stocking stuffing was needed!

 The kids made some presents for their parents, and wrapped them all by themselves! They were so proud!

During some free time, all of the kids ran to the bookshelf, and pulled out some of their favorite Christmas stories from our classroom library to read!

The afternoon class all wanted to listen to the same book on tape, so they all huddled around the book together!

 Snack time! They decorated their own Christmas Tree sugar cookies! YUM!

 Our next project! CHRISTMAS TREES!!!

Paint, glue, and glitter!!

At the end of the day, some of the kids brought a fun treat to share with their friends in the class and we all sang some more Christmas Songs!!

The Letters of My Name...

The kiddos are writing their names SO much better than when we started school just a few months ago! I'm impressed at how much they have already improved!

This is one activity that we did that worked on some of our fine motor skills as well as putting the letters in our names in thew right order!!

Little Elf, Little Elf, What do you SMELL? What do you EAT?

I'm doing two days in this post because I loaded all the pictures before I realized what I was doing! :)

We had lots of fun exploring our sense of SMELL today! We had secret things (cotton balls in a jar saturated with some oils) to SMELL and figure out what it was. They had so much fun!

We then explored our sense of TASTE. (These 5 Senses SURE are fun!!!)

We had a "tasting party" and discovered that our tongues help us taste different tastes: Sweet, Salty, Sour, and Bitter. 

 I loved their faces when they tasted the SOUR LEMON!

 SO SOUR!!

 No, that's not the universal sign for choking.... she is trying to swallow the sour taste in her mouth!!

 Thank heavens for that sweet orange to chase the sour lemon down!

 I just realized I never took a photo of their Little Elf Books on the TASTING DAY!!! YIKES!! They turned out really cute!

Little Elf, Little Elf, What do you HEAR?

Today we explored our sense of HEARING! 

After writing in our journals, we all decided that the BEST thing to hear at Christmas time is Sleigh Bells ringing in Santa's Reindeer!!

Their Little Elf Books are turning out SO cute!!!
