EGG DROP!

Humpty Dumpty helped us start out our egg unit. (click here to check out what we did)

We then learned about all the different kinds of animals that hatch from eggs.

We discovered that
Snakes, turtles, birds, octopus, platypus, spiders, ostriches, penguins, sea horses, fish, and alligators all hatch from eggs!

Then we made these fun eggs:

At the end of our EGG unit, we celebrate by having an EGG DROP!

Each child brings an egg protected any way these kiddos can think of....

...and Mr. Brandon drops them from the roof!!

We watch as they come crashing down to the ground.....
and HOPE our eggs don't crack!!

We open the packages up to see if the eggs cracked:

 And GRAPH THE RESULTS!!

We recorded our results in our journals:

Garden Week!

This week we learned about gardens, the parts of a plant, and what it takes for plants to grow!

We started off with a NEW DRAMATIC PLAY CENTER!!! THE FLOWER SHOP!!

We labeled the parts of a plant:

We planted our own plants!
We observed how a plant drinks water from the root and watched how the water travels up paper towels similar to the plant.....
Plus we did some color mixing too!
We made observations as the water traveled...

We learned that for a plant to grow, it needs:
Seed
Soil
Water
and
Air
We checked our planted seeds each day before we got to take them home....

We read TOPS and BOTTOMS and made our own Tops and Bottoms Garden:

To celebrate, we also made SOCK CREATURES.....
Here they are all ready to take home and take care of:

Hair starting to grow:

On Friday, we ATE parts of plants!
Say whaaaaat?
Yes... we ate
SEEDS
ROOTS
STEMS
LEAVES

FLOWERS and FRUIT!

Then we graphed our favorite parts of the plant to eat:

Garden week is such a fun fun week!!
