More oPpOsItEs!

What a BUSY day!!

We started off with discussing opposites in the world around us and we realized that everything has an opposite! Including WEATHER and SEASONS!

These girls are showing us what is appropriate to wear during some of those opposite seasons:

We then illustrated opposite seasons:
We made sure our illustrations were CAREFUL, COLORFUL, and DETAILED today! What great illustrators they have become!

We have been celebrating opposites with show and tell:

Here are a few of them:

Girl and Boy

Left and Right:

This book was full of opposites:

We had a few Big and Little opposites:

Ha! We even had opposite baseball teams!

Here was a fun one:
Can you guess the opposites here?
SLOW and FAST (so glad Dribble could come demonstrate that for us!!)

We discovered that Dr. Seuss has a whole bunch of fun books with OPPOSITES in them!

Now for some hands on fun!!

OOBLECK is such a fun way to demonstrate opposites!
Mix a little cornstarch with water and not only are the ingredients opposites, but the texture and feel of the final product are opposites!
Move the oobleck FAST and it becomes a SOLID.....
....Move the oobleck SLOWLY and it becomes a LIQUID!!

What a FUN week we've had exploring opposites!!

OpPoSiTeS!

Today was our first day of OPPOSITES, and boy was it fun!

We all brought in 2 objects that are opposites of each other for show and tell. We read some great stories about opposites. And we discovered that Dr. Seuss has a great collection of opposites in his books!

We then performed a science experiment with opposites.
We made predictions if an object would SINK or FLOAT:

Pick an object, make a prediction....

.... observe...

We then wrote about our discoveries in our science journals:

Opposites!

We had SO much fun during Opposites Week!
Every one of the kiddos brought in some FUN and CREATIVE opposite Show and Tells!

One of our most fun activities this week was ~ OOBLECK.
It covered two different opposites: Dry - Wet and Liquid - Solid

We started out with DRY Cornstarch

and added WET water!

Mix away (use your muscles)

Then it was time to GET DIRTY!! (Ooooo! Another Opposite! Clean - Dirty!)
This was such a fun sensory activity!!
If you worked with it slowly, it was a liquid .....
But if you worked with it quickly, it became a solid!
