Veterinarian's Office!

I have a GREAT LOVE for dramatic play....
I have a goal to set up a new dramatic play center each month. This month is the Veterinarian's office, and the kids are in heaven! Their little minds are just spinning with pretend play! It's fantastic!

There are so many roles to play:
The Dr., the Nurse, the patient, the patient owner, the receptionist, the pharmacist, etc...

So many sick animals to fix!!

Our X-ray corner:

Writing prescriptions:

Reading books in the waiting room:

Safety and Shapes!

We've been learning all about shapes for the last few weeks.
We finished off the unit with learning about Octagons

What better way to celebrate octagons than with Stop Signs and Safety?!

This was a fun game of  "Red Light, Green Light"

We learned the importance of wearing our helmets!
They keep us safe no matter what we are riding!!

We did some stoplight painting and learned what the colors mean on the stoplights.

Chief Finlayson

We were honored to have Chief Finlayson come to our classroom and teach us all about being a police officer!

We learned about safety, and we learned that the police are there to help us and to protect us!

We saw some of the "tools" that police officers need and use.

Then we each got a turn to try on a police reflector vest and get a photo with Chief Finlayson!

Thank you Chief Finlayson for coming to our preschool and for serving our community!

Fireman Brandon!

We were so lucky to have another Community Helper come to our classroom!!

We discovered that Firemen are real life HEROES!!

Fireman Brandon talked to us about FIRE SAFETY

He told us about the tools firemen use and let us all have a turn!
We learned that we do not play with matches or lighters, and that if our clothes catch on fire, we should STOP DROP AND ROLL!!

We learned that Firemen look a little different with their uniform on, but that we shouldn't be afraid of them! They are there to help us!

Thank you for coming to our classroom today Brandon!!

I love taking the opportunity to thank our community helpers with a little SHARED WRITING! Not only does it teach the kids to use their manners, but we're also learning reading and writing skills!!
It also turns out to be super cute!
