Thanksgiving Feast!

I just LOVE our Thanksgiving Feast!!

We start out the day by having a Name Ceremony and each child learns what Native American name has earned. They then work all day to earn feathers for their head dresses! It's so fun to see them catch each other doing something good to earn a feather!
Throughout the day, we wrote in our journals about things we were thankful for, and  we used colorful noodles to make necklaces

This required some intense fine motor skills!

Afterward, we gathered our food items that each child brought to the feast and put together a FANTASTIC meal to share!

Square Day!

Sammy Square is  my name
My 4 sides are all the same!
 Today was SQUARE DAY!
We learned that a square has 4 EQUAL sides!

We used our rulers to help us find squares around the room!
We also used our rulers to help us make squares of our own!
Ta Ra Ra BOOM De-AY
I Drew a Square Today!
My square it has 4 sides
Each one of Equal size!
My square became a house!
Inside I drew a mouse.
Smiling out that window there--
Drawn with a square!

Really... there's not many toys that are as entertaining than a GEOBOARD!
These Geoboards were so much fun to build shapes!
We used the pegs on the boards to help us count and make sure our squares had 4 equal sides!
We found that we could make lots of different shapes with our Geoboards too!

Circles, Circles, Circles!

Did you know that we can find SHAPES ALL AROUND US??!

Today we learned about CIRCLES!

To start out the day, we made circle chains with pipe cleaners.... um, no one could ever find a cooler "zipper-pull"... which they all turned out to be!

Later on, we made our own snack with circles! Crank out those fine motor skills, and get to work!
We have so many fun friends!!

"Ring Around the Rosies", anyone?! Look at that circle shape we made with our bodies!

We then put on our aprons and PAINTED WITH CIRCLES!!
We learned there are so many items in our homes that are in the shape of a circle!
Jars, lids, toilet paper rolls, oranges, and even lego tops!

One of our favorite things to paint circles with was: BUBBLE WRAP! How fun is that?!

I'm Suzy Circle, coming to town
I look like a wheel going round and round!
