What Naughty Kids!!

We have been working on our numbers lately.....

It's important to be able to understand that a number represents a quantity of something. Here we are working on RECOGNIZING AND SHOWING what the number is! We rolled the die, found the number on our paper, and then added that many stickers to the sheet.

BOY WHAT A NAUGHTY CLASS I HAVE!!!
PAINTING WITH NAIL POLISH?!?! OH NO THEY DIDN'T?!!!

yes.... yes they did.

We painted N the Naughty Newt with Nail polish while celebrating the Letter N.... So Naughty.
 ...SO FUN

Dr Penrod!

We were SO lucky to have Dr. Penrod with the Canyon View Medical Group come to our class again this year! Some of us might be a little nervous to go to the doctor, but Dr. Penrod made us realize that there's nothing to be scared about! Doctors are kind and want to help us! They are an important helper in our community!

Everyone brought their "special friend" from home for their Check Up.

Each of us got a turn to use the Doctor's special tools...

We even gave our friends a shot and counted for how long it would hurt. We made sure our friend got a bandaid to make it feel better!
Dr. Penrod showed us some of the things he would ask us to do before we go into kindergarten... one of the things we had to show him was how to "walk like a duck"!!

UH OH!! Do we have a broken bone?!
No! But Dr. Penrod showed us what he would do if we DID have one!
Look at that BYU Blue Cast!!

 THANK YOU DR. PENROD!

Mmmmm.....

What better way to celebrate M day than with M&Ms!!?!
Since we just finished our COLOR UNIT, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to sort our M&Ms by color! They did a fantastic job sorting.... it took some concentration, but we got it!
Look at those beautiful fine motor skills at work!
After we graphed the M&M's we recorded it and gobbled them up!

Also for Letter M, we talked about one of our Community Helpers.... the MAIL CARRIER!!
We started to learn our address and talked about why we need an address. Then we wrote ourselves letters and drew a picture for our moms and put them in the mailbox for the Mail Carrier to take to our house! What a surprise it was to see them arrive at our house!

Puppets and Pumpkins

New Dramatic Play Center!!
Oh how we love the puppets!!! It's so much fun to see their little creative juices go with this center! And all different personalities react differently to this center. Some jump right in, while others need a little encouragement to get going. What fun!

I saw this pumpkin idea on Pinterest and I thought it was adorable!
We decorated our classrooms with these original jack-o-lantern pumpkins for a couple of weeks then sent them home to be a Halloween Decoration at home! (I guess I have to share the fun!)

Aren't they ADORABLE?!

J the Jellyfish & Number 1!

Letter J day!

Doing the Jitterbug Dance with J the Jellyfish!

Eating bread with JAM for snack

Today we started learning about NUMBERS.... we found that we use numbers all day long!
Numbers help us get to school on time, count our friends and days at school, read a calendar, find our place in line, they even help us find a PAIR of socks.
We explored the number 1 using blocks and dice...
We used number dice and also dice with dots

Every time we rolled a 1, we were able to add ONE block to our tower

Afterward, wrote in our preschool journals. We each wrote a story about what we have ONE of.
Some of us had ONE brother, ONE blanket, or even ONE cat!

Straight line down, then you're done!
That's the way to make a ONE!
