Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty Sat on a Wall....
Humpty Dumpty Had a Great Fall!!
Today we had fun comparing a cooked egg vs a raw egg. We looked at the different parts of the egg: the shell, the white, and the yolk.
Then of course, we wrote about it in our science journals:

We then built our own walls for Humpty Dumpty....

We figured out many different ways to make an oval shape balance on our block walls!
We used different kinds of blocks to see which ones worked best

For snack time, we ate hard boiled eggs toast.... YUM!!

We then played "Put Humpty Together Again"
(a game I found on SugarDoodle)

Nursery Rhyme Time!

Since we started the month out by celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday, I find it most appropriate to continue throughout the month learning rhymes!

To start out, we learned Jack and Jill!

We learned the words, and found the rhymes....

Then did some shared reading!
I love shared reading! It helps with SOOOO many prereading skills!!!
Including one to one correspondence, sight words, fluency, return sweep, etc.
Love it.

We then talked about sequencing....
1st, 2nd, 3rd

This not only helps with reading comprehension, it also helps with numbers!

What happened 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the story?
Lets ILLUSTRATE!!

We started illustrating a nursery rhyme book.
Circle the rhymes ... and illustrate!
Draw it carefully, colorful, and detailed!

Dr. Seuss Day!

"If you never did, you should.
These things are fun - and fun is good!"~ Dr. Seuss

"Try them, try them, and you may! Try them and you may, I say"

What a fun dress up day we had!! We had all sorts of characters from Dr. Seuss books:
The Lorax
Sneetches
Thing 1
Cat in the Hat
Horton
Sam I Am

The kiddos were ABSOLUTELY adorable!!

 "It's a Thing thing... you wouldn't understand."

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.”-The Lorax

 Writing in our journals:
 "I am Thing 1"
 "I am the Lorax"
 "Thing 1"

 Playing Dr. Seuss Match:

More Dr. Seuss Games:
"I Can Do That"

"Today I shall behave as if this is the day I will be remembered." - Dr. Seuss
