There's a Doctor in the House!

I take comfort in knowing that my child will stay put where I leave him and knowing he is safe. Therefore, at Red Rooster Academy, our “field trips” come to us!

We were so excited to have Dr. Penrod from Art City Family Medical Center come for our first “in-house” field trip! He was FANTASTIC with the kids!

Each child brought their favorite stuffed animal and Dr. Penrod taught the kids what each of his Dr. Tools is used for. He let them hold the tools and use them for a great hands-on learning experience!
He taught us about the importance of taking care of our bodies, and making them strong by eating good foods and getting enough sleep by going to bed when our parents tell us to!! He talked about making sure we got enough exercise and limiting the amount of sweets we ate each day and also the amount of TV we watch.
He also *gasp* gave each one of our stuffed animals a shot and let each of the kids put a special band-aid on their animal's arm to make them feel better.

To top the day off, he showed us what would happen if we broke one of our bones and put a cast on one of our friends' arm!

  THANK YOU DR. PENROD!!

COLORS COLORS COLORS!!!

Over the past few weeks, we have been exploring our Primary and Secondary COLORS!!!
"Sorting" helped us distinguish the difference between the colors.
We became “scientists” and began experimenting by mixing colors.
We made predictions before mixing …. there were many great ideas. Some thought that when we mixed the colors, it would become a RAINBOW! Even though some of our predictions were incorrect, were were not disappointed in our results!
We made sure to document our discoveries as our investigation continued throughout the week!
If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you
And share with you its beauty
On the days you are feeling blue.
